I have been pretty busy and I have even attempted a couple of times to make an update blog post via the wix dashboard app....and the darn things never uploaded so I gave up due to impatience haha. Here I am now, had to cancel some plans today due to bad weather coming so I decided to take that opportunity to at least update some things. Yesterday and today are the start of baby booms mainly from two soul bucks I decided to breed to a large lot of my does. One lot to get as many c locus projects pulled out as I can in angora so I can select some up and comers and the other is just my original line angora buck paired off to some of my own mixed to some of the other stock I got from Tennessee months back.
Anywho, I am really excited to see what my snow tiger does give me being paired to my chocolate pied angora buck I had "Muppet". He has since been removed from the breeding program because his angora coat really slacked once he matured and I am positive he will have produced for me a nice buckling to replace him and if not I already have mature sons of his.
Non-mouse related, is my blooming obsession with bantam chickens and ducks. I have had several bantam breeds as a child, teen and young adult and I even had a few black east indies and pet quality pair of chocolate calls when I was a young adult. I always planned to get back into them but with my homesteading focus I was pretty big into (still am but taking it a lot easier now on my self lol). Yesterday I picked up some Vienna marked rabbits I'd like to work with and some blue laced red Wyandotte bantam chicks as well as a trio of cochin bantam chicks. I also have show quality call ducks in the incubator they're around day 4 or 5 now and I was able to confirm today that at least a dozen are developing! Tomorrow I will start candling the show quality serama eggs that are also in the bator! To say I am excited is an understatement. :) My oldest bantam breeds other than my tractor supply 18' Japanese bantam hen is my trio of polish bantams. The roo is a little on the big side and I have no idea what his color is and the gold laced bantam pullets are the cutest things ever but on the skiddish side. Polish chickens are just so unlike other chickens I've had the pleasure to get to know. Really enjoying them and I cannot wait to get more once I have room lol!
I think I will end this post with pictures Ive been slowly saving up on here and haven't used and maybe some new ones as well.
